As you may know, this week Gov. DeWine announced that, effective immediately, masks are no longer required in most settings. Even though, technically, Ohio did not require masks to be worn in churches, New Song strove, in our mask/social distance policy, to honor the spirit of what the Governor was requesting for non-religious public settings.
Specifically he said, “Today, the Ohio Dept. of Health amended its health order to conform to new CDC guidance allowing those who’ve been vaccinated to stop wearing masks. Under the CDC’s new guidance, those who have not been vaccinated should still wear a mask and socially distance.”
As of this Sunday, May 23rd, we will no longer ask attendees to wear a mask. Of course, those who wish to wear a mask are free to do so.
In the language of Romans 14 the one who does not wear a mask, “is not to regard with contempt” the one who wears a mask. And the one who wears a mask “is not to judge the one” who does not wear a mask, “for God has accepted him. Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master He stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.”
Though Gov. DeWine noted that “under the CDC’s new guidance, those who have not been vaccinated should still wear a mask and socially distance,” the position of the elders is to not tell others what they should or should not do with regard to masks or vaccinations. We have purposed to leave that up to each person’s conscience before God and to encourage all of God’s people to relate to one another in love and with grace.
We appreciate everyone’s spirit and patience as we have worked through what has been a particularly challenging time for us all. Let’s move forward in faith for all that God has for New Song in the days ahead!
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
In His eternal love,
The New Song elders

Dear New Song family,
Please read this entire message for an important update from the elders.
Good news… you will not have to wear a mask to service this Sunday.
In Titus 3:1-2 Paul advises us: Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed, to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men.
- Decrease in-person interactions with others.
- Consider necessary travel only.
- Limit attending gatherings of any number.
While religious organizations are exempt from this requirement, the elders of New Song believe it is in the best interest of our members and community to suspend in-person gatherings until further notice. This includes the following:
- Sunday morning services effective this Sunday, July 19th
- Life group meetings
- The church picnic on July 26th
We will return to the Zoom meeting format for Sunday mornings, life groups, prayer meetings, and youth meetings. Instructions to join are at https://newsong.family/live.
The women’s ministry outing Friday evening and the men’s ministry outreach scheduled for Saturday morning will continue as planned. Please support those events.
This was a difficult decision, and we recognize how difficult it is to remain physically apart. I (Ashley) am an extrovert, a hugger, a people person, and I terribly miss seeing you all. This is difficult for all of us. However, as Paul states in the verse above we are to be ready for every good work while we honor the authorities God has placed over us. Please continue to pray for our nation and reach out to one another and your neighbors. Pray that God will shake our nation and our own hearts to bring us closer to Him.
If you know New Song attenders without access to email or text messages please help us communicate this to them.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
Dearly beloved of New Song,
This evening the church board met to discuss whether to meet during the corona virus outbreak. The governor of Ohio has specifically not banned religious gatherings, but has respectfully asked that churches meet remotely.
Out of respect for the authorities and doing what is right in the eyes of men (Romans 12:17), New Song Community Church will suspend all meetings effective immediately through Friday, April 3rd. This is subject to change based on the governor’s future directives.
This suspension of meetings includes:
- Sunday services suspended beginning this Sunday
- Saturday’s Communication Toolbox Workshop
- Life groups
- Worship team Saturday gathering
- Prayer open house
- Youth meeting
During this time the elders will remain in contact via email and text. We will provide a video message on the church web site each Sunday at 10AM (https://newsong.family). Please watch these for encouragement from the pastors.
